Do you remember the sound of looms, the smell of flax, or stories shared around the table about life in the linen mills?
Join us for a relaxed and meaningful evening at Barrel and Bean, where we’ll be recording oral histories from local residents who lived through, or grew up hearing about Dromore’s rich linen heritage.
Whether you worked in the mills or stitching rooms, helped in the flax fields, or simply carry the memories of parents, grandparents or neighbours who did, we’d love to hear your story. Even small memories help paint a bigger picture of what life was like in Dromore when the linen trade was at its heart.
You don’t need anything prepared, just bring your memories, your voice, and maybe a photo or object if you’d like to share. We'll have a friendly, informal setup with plenty of time for conversation.
These stories will help preserve and share Dromore’s linen legacy for future generations, forming part of a community archive that connects past to present through lived experience.
Come along, have a chat, and help us weave your story into our town’s history.
